Terms, in plain words

Updated 4 October 2026. These are the terms on which Blue Square works, written to be read. Where a signed contract exists between us, it governs; this page describes it.

What we do

Blue Square builds three things for a small business: a website drawn from a brand book your own answers produce; an app made for your business, running on your own machine and your own network; and automations: the chores of the day, done inside it. We build; you get results. We do not sell a builder, an API or an agent for you to operate.

The setup guide and the specification

The guide ends in a specification you sign. Signing it asks us to consider the job; it is not an order and it costs nothing. We read the signed specification, never the raw answers. Within two business days we tell you one of three things: we would take it; we need one call first; or we would not take it, with the reason in writing.

What we refuse

Any job that needs a licence to do, touches health data, moves other people's money, risks anyone's body, or whose failure would be a lawsuit rather than a loss; anything on Amazon; and any job that is in substance a tool for you to operate. A no comes with its reason.

Money before proof, in one rule

The only money before you have seen a build work is the discovery: one call, $500, and the whole of it is credited to the build if you go ahead. Nothing else is owed until the witness.

The witness

Every build is shown working on your own systems, with you watching and us on the call, in about twenty minutes. That is when you decide, and the only time you pay. For a workflow you issue a scoped, short-lived credential yourself; we never hold a standing key to your business.

Rounds and previews

Two revision rounds are inside every build. A website lives at a preview address, behind a code, until it is paid for; the preview is withdrawn fourteen days after the second round. After the two rounds you pay or you walk; nothing is transferred before payment.

What you own, and when

On payment you own the website's files, copy, design and brand book outright, and it is deployed to hosting you hold within seven days or the payment is returned. The app is licensed to your one business, perpetual and non-transferable; the books are yours, in an open format on your machine, exportable at any time; it is installed for the witness as a build that expires thirty days after it and is unlocked by a signed bundle at payment. A workflow runs for the months you pay for; when it stops, its specification and fixtures are yours.

After payment

Fixes to anything the specification promised are free for thirty days, plan or no plan. Care ($150 a month) adds one change a month. Keeping ($450 a month) adds updates, two hours of work a month and a restore walk-through from your own backup. Your hardware, operating system, internet, and anything outside the signed specification are not included; the last is quoted.

If we disagree

A refusal to pay after the witness is measured against the signed specification and the proof's checks, re-run with you watching; the evidence decides.

Whose hand

Your systems are touched by your hand or by the owner of Blue Square, never by anyone else. Credentials are the three the contract names, issued by you, in your own store, revocable by you at any hour.

Responsibility

Our responsibility for a job is capped at the fees paid for it. We are not responsible for consequential losses, or for data loss where the backup is yours and was tested at the witness. The signed contract says this precisely.

The people who build

Blue Square's builders include AI systems working under a person's direction and review. Your specification and uploads pass to their provider under its terms for the length of the build; your customers' records never do.
